On the occasion of International Women's Day, Faculty of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia organized an exhibition of the works done by the women artists who were associated with Jamia in the capacity of teacher or student.
The
exhibition is a project to trace the journey of Jamia women artists created
through their personal, institutional and socio cultural-identities.
These
artistic expressions are integral part of the modern and contemporary Indian
art milieu in a highly skilled artistic language. The show includes the work of
women artists from 1950's till the end of the 20th century. The exhibition
showcases the works of some 29 women artists.
The
exhibition is an inauguration of a series of future projects that will enable
Jamia to create and unique space for itself in the history of Modern Indian
Art.
